CRHA Announces New Executive Director, John Sales

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority announces new Executive Director, John Sales to begin August 3, 2020

The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) is pleased to announce the next Executive Director, John Sales.  Mr. Sales will begin as the Executive Director for CRHA on August 3, 2020.   After reviewing several worthy candidates, the CRHA Board of Commissioners announced Mr. Sales appointment during their June 22nd Board meeting.  The Board wants to thank the Search committee fo their diligent work and all the resident, stakeholder, and staff panelists that participated in the second round of interviews.

Mr. Sales recently served as the Housing Program Coordinator for the City of Charlottesville where he worked to increase affordable housing by improving local housing policies and programs.  Prior to working in Charlottesville, he was the Director of Development & Capitol Projects fo the Cheseapeake Redevelopment and Housing Auhtority.  Mr. Sales received his Master in Public Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.  John Sales begins work at a critical time as CRHA is about to break ground on two redevelopment projects; one of the South First Street ballfield and Crescent Halls renovation.

The Board commends and thanks the interim leaders for CRHA; Kathleen Glenn-Matthews, Interim Executive Director; Dave Norris, Redevelopment Coordinator; and Claudette Green, Director of Housing.  CRHA staff along with PHAR have been incredible in working together to serve our residents this year,  especially commends the extra work over the past 5 months through the COVID-19 response.
